This series of paintings began from a childhood story.
When I was a little child, on my way to my kindergarten at the end of the Shikmim Street, the dirt roads of the agricultural plots were fenced with sabra bushes.

The children used to push each other into the sabra as a game, and so I came home with thorns, which to take them out was not easy (and of course not particularly pleasant).

Today the landscape has changed: roads fill the city's expanses, the houses are fenced with stone fences, while the sabra is gone from the view.

The Sabra is a symbol of the renewal Jewish settlement in Israel and a visual symbol of the landscape of the land of Israel. It is customary to call sabras to those who born in Israel, cause they are rough and thorny on the outside, but soft and sweet inside. However, Sabras are native Israelis, whichever they are: Jews, Muslims, Christians.

The sabra bush creates various shapes and figures in many shades of green.
It has medicinal properties and its fruits are delicious and sweet.

In my work I monitor the changes of the sabra throughout the seasons, and even during the day: morning, noon and evening.
The variability of the sabra is interesting: from buds to flowers in different colors, to fruit, to dehydration state in the summer, spikes, changes in color and shape. A look at the sabra reveals a world of forms and a rich content.
