אתר האומנות של רחל החמנית החמנית היא צמח חד שנתי ממשפחת המורכבים. מוצאו ממערב ארצות הברית. ישנם כחמישים זנים שונים של חמניות. החמנית היא צמח חקלאי הנזרע בשדה. היא מגיעה לגובה של שני מטר. גרעיני החמנית משמשים לשמן ולמאכל. הפרח לנוי. החמנית הובאה לאירופה על ידי הספרדים במאה ה- 17. מהזריעה בפברואר עד לפריחה עוברים 55-66 ימים. בספטמבר מתחילה הפריחה והבשלת הגרעינים במרכז הפרח. הפרחים עוקבים אחרי תנועת השמש עד לפריחה מלאה, אז הקרקפת פונה לאורך היום לכיוון מזרח .בארץ ישנו זן מיוחד שעבר טיפולים נגד מחלות. כדי לעקוב אחרי צמח החמנית, זרעתי גרעיני חמניות בגינה שלי וכך יכולתי לעקוב אחר גדילתם ופריחתם. יופי הצמח, העלים הגדולים והבשרניים, הפרח הצהוב המושך ציפורים, דבורים ,פרפרים ועוד.. קודם הניצן שלאט פותח את עלי הכותרת שלו. אחר כך עלי הכותרת מתגלים, נפתחים ונראים הגרעינים עטופים בקליפתם. הצמח ופריחתו היפה גרמו לי לצייר את סדרת ציורי החמנית. עקבתי אחרי הפריחה. צלמתי מכל הכוונים. צלמתי בבוקר, בערב וגם בתקופת היובש של העלים והפרח. Rachel’s Art Site Sunflowers The sunflower is an annual plant from the complex family. Originating in the western United States. There are about fifty different varieties of sunflower. The sunflower is an agricultural plant sown in the field. It reaches a height of two meters. Sunflower seeds are used for oil and edible. The flower is ornamental. The sunflower was brought to Europe by the Spaniards in the 17th century. From sowing in February to flowering pass 55-66 days. In September the flowering and ripening of the seeds in the center of the flower begins. The flowers follow the movement of the sun until it is in full bloom, so the scalp faces east throughout the day. In Israel there is a special variety that has undergone treatments against diseases. To track the sunflower plant, I sowed sunflower seeds in my garden so I could track their growth and flowering. The beauty of the plant, the large and fleshy leaves, the yellow flower which attracts birds, bees, butterflies and more. First the bud that slowly opens its petals, then the petals are revealed, open and the seeds are wrapped in their bark. The plant and its beautiful bloom made me draw the series of sunflower paintings. I followed the rash. I photographed from all directions.
